It might be safe to say the 2nd Generation Pokemon games might be the best ones in terms of story content & continuity. Not only do you get to play in a new region but you get to go back to the region where the previous generation of games was set. That blew me away when I first played Gen 2 & here we are with Gen 2 given the GBA look & polish with Liquid Crystal. A remake of Crystal version & then some!
Caters to those old memories while offering new twists & stories in the main game & in the post game. Sadly though it isn't a complete game & as you see in my previous post, once you get to the Old Warehouse north of Mandarin City, that's pretty much it for now.As great of a game as it was, it did have its troubles:1. Unnecessary Hail weather. This just made outdoor battles annoying, considering that it would be this kind of weather in many places. The only place where the weather made sense was in Azalea Town, with the rain & the whole 'Slowpoke rainmaker' legend.2. 'Blue/Gary 2.0' type rivals.
A few optional patches: actually notice when it’s day and night, Uncensor trainer sprites, input a few newer game mechanics, or make Emerald a tiny bit more like Ruby and Sapphire! More information in the included FAQ. For a version of this hack with all 386 Pokemon obtainable, please see. ALL trade evolution Pokemon have been modified to evolve in a different way, all of the wild Pokemon from GS are placed in their normal area, the starters from Gen 1 and 2 have locations around the 2 regions, the Celebi event from the Japanese Crystal has been repaired to work as normal, and lastly the safari zone has been semi restored.
As fun as it may seem to have more than one rival character in a game, there's really no point in have multiple rivals if they're all basically Blue 2.0, popping up at bad times for pointless battles, the usual snotty dialogue & not really being of much help despite the troubles happening thanks to whichever bad guy Team is in the game. Zane fit that profile during the main game but because his story eventually takes shape in the post game, I won't rant about him lol he was lucky. Axel had his unique story but I expected him to help out more rather than leave you do the work (ain't he a Champion from some far away region??)I've got feedback for other games that I've played, so you're free to check those out:Pokemon Dark VioletPokemon Korosu.
